The backpack is for all ages! Enjoy backpacking?

The backpack is actually a tremendous "come in handy" for those who travel, who go to work, or who go to school! Before backpacking, be aware of cool tips that every conscious backpacker should know!

Once upon a time, a smart guy designed a new backpack... Well, the idea was not that new after all!

In fact, the idea of the backpack, as it is today, came up due to an article published on the American magazine, "Outing Magazine", teaching a way to fold a blanket so that it would turn into a package to be carried on the back.

Thus, after reading the article, this climber called Dick Kelly - who probably was too tired of having to carry all that junk when climbing the mountains - decided to use this accessory with a lightweight material that would not occupy both his hands during his climbs.

Voilá! So Dick Kelly invented the modern backpack!

Back in 1952, with the help of his wife, Kelly patented his new backpack design.  A great deal that never stops growing! Kelly's wife enhanced her husband's invention by adding padded straps and zippered pockets. Perfect!

From the 1970s, the backpack boomed in the mountaineering sector! The very first step for the idea to spread around the world! After mountaineering, the use of the backpack expanded and new models started to show up in the market.

Children love backpacking!

How did it all start?

According to historical records, the earliest forms of backpacks appeared in the Aztec civilization. Due to the rugged terrain of the mountains, transportation by animals was rare, almost none! The only way to transport all the luggage was on the people's back.

The old backpack consisted of two thick vertical rods with the width of a body. The weight was distributed between the back and the head of the carrier and handles passed through his forehead. Thus, that backpack was much heavier than nowadays!

The modern backpacks can be made of:

  • polyethylene with fiberglass structures

  • Carbon

  • Nylon

  • Polyester

  • leather or PU (a material that mimics leather, but sustainable

Fancy backpacks can be exclusive material for those who want to cry out loud his or her message! Think green and invoke sustainability or any cause in defense of the environment!

A good plan before packing is the best way for a successful adventure!

First of all, avoid too much weight! It may harm you!

According to experts, everyone who wears a backpack on a daily basis should balance its weight every time it is used. The ideal measure is carrying up to 10% of your weight.

Physiotherapists warn that heavy backpacks can be even more harmful to children who are still in the growth phase.

Making a smart calculation by comparing your weight to the additional weight is the key to the success of the adventure!

All traveler's backpack must have...

  • Clothes for various weather conditions

  • Tent

  • Personal hygiene items

  • Sneakers or sandals

  • Remedies

  • Support cameras (for the professionals)

  • Repellent

  • Bathing and bedding

  • Travel guides

  • Books (for the intellectuals)

Those are the main items. You can vary them, according to your preferences, like itinerary, duration of the trip, etc.

For trails and short walks

The so-called "attack backpack" has a capacity of up to 35 liters. Lightweight and versatile, it can also carry heavier luggage, serving as support to carry additional items that require space.

For long walks and shorter trips

This small cargo can be around 35 to 60 liters. It is recommended for those who enjoy trips. A 40-liter cargo would be ideal for those who travel by plane and do not want to check out luggage, besides serving for trails and tours.

The coolest thing is to look at life as a successful adventure. Therefore, carry your backpack with all the good intentions and ecological responsibility a good traveler needs!
